Discovering Queen St. – Day 1

On Saturday, I spent the day down at Queen st. to discover new places and check out some of my old favorite spots. It’s been a while since I’ve been down there, so things have changed!

To start the day, I realized the shoes I was wearing have been a victim of a gum attack! I had the hugest green gum stuck to the side of my heel. So, I ended up with a pair of new TOMS! Very comfy.

Then, we were off to check out the new Urban Eatery at Eaton Center! (Check out what Toronto Life wrote about them!) The food court looks big, bright and beautiful. Hopefully they’ll be able to keep it like that for years to come. For lunch I decided to have poutine from Poutinerie/New York fries. Braised Beef poutine is SO YUMMY!!!!

we hopped on the TTC to checkout what’s happening on the west end of Queen st. for some desserts and window shopping! The new TTC trains are so cool, wanted to run up & down the train, just because we could.

Sapporo Sound Den

Yesterday Eunji and I checked out the Sapporo Sound Den VIP event held at Cheval on King west. The event was a great success, filled with party goers enjoying the last nights of summer while sipping away on cold Sapporo, dancing the night away with the music of DJ Am-e and EC Twins.

During the event we got Sapporo vouchers and a recipe card for a Sapporo infused cocktail that’s yet to be named with coconut rum and sweet vermouth. (help them name the cocktail and win some VIP swag, click here) Continue reading “Sapporo Sound Den”

Stella Artois… You Did It Again!

Last night we celebrated Toronto with Stella Artois and 1LoveTO guys at their amazing block party on King st. west. The music was pumping, lights were flickering over our heads and of course there was Stella. Cool, cool Stella!

The location of the block party was amazing, you would get the best view of CN Tower, beautiful full moon and of course the massive makeshift screen of all things Stella Artois!

and you can’t missed the Beer Pump/DJ booth!

There were swag stations all around the party too! Photo Booths, button making and 1LoveTO tshirts….goodies!!!

Starfish Oyster Bar & Grill….

I still remember the first time I had mussels, I was maybe 12. We were visiting a family friend just outside Paris and our hosts had made us mussels. I think I liked it when I had it, my mom was a bit concerned about my sister and I eating unfamiliar food while on vacation but it all turned out alright. Since then I always get these random cravings for mussels. I find them DELICIOUS!!

When my friend, the human Urban Spoon, suggested Starfish for our Summerlicious lunch option I was super excited. Starfish is a charming little place on Adelaide st east and I’m ashamed that I never knew they existed.

The lunch menu was filled with yummy food from the sea and we were excited to try everything.  Continue reading “Starfish Oyster Bar & Grill….”

ViVetha Bistro….FoodbySaje

Few weeks ago we celebrated Xp’s birthday at ViVetha Bistro in the beaches area of Toronto. We heard about this little gem from our friend, the human Urban Spoon, who always picks the best places to eat both in the GTA and everywhere else.

ViVetha features typical European Bistro menu, designed by executive chef and owner Siva Thambinathan. I for one enjoyed the items on the menu and was having a hard time picking one dish to order. They all sounded so delicious. After much debate at the table we all decided on what we wanted and here are our selections.

Bruschetta - Served on a thin pizza crust with enoki mushrooms, asiago, goat cheese and a Cajun shrimp garnish

Olivea Trattoria….FoodbySaje

On our day trip to Kingston to tour the beautiful 1000 Islands on the St Lawrence river we decided to check out a great little Italian place in the city. I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality and the service we received at the Olivea Restaurant/Trattoria.

Bruschetta Olivea style!

We ordered mostly off their special filled with omelettes and eggs benedict. They were all so tasty and fresh. The best thing we ordered from the menu for our appetizer was the Olivea bruschetta ($9) filled with yummy tomatoes, capers, artichoke and feta cheese. TOO DIE FOR!! If you ever happen to visit Kingston or you live there make sure you visit Olivea Restaurant.

Here are some of the items we ordered. Continue reading “Olivea Trattoria….FoodbySaje”
