For years now I’ve been talking with my friends to go back to Italy where we all met for the first time during a university abroad program in a little town called Siena. After hearing about the launch of 500 by Gucci during the Milan Fashion Week, I think I have more reasons to make that trip sooner than later. I would love to give this car a try because the first family car related memories that I have is from our little red Fiat 128, another reason is that it would be fun to zip through all the narrow streets in Siena with the 500 and lets face it, this car is super stylish and adorable!
500 by Gucci is a collaboration between the Italian car maker and Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini to celebrate Gucci’s 90th anniversary. The 500 by Gucci will initially be available from April 1st to June 30th (in Italy), exclusively by pre-order online at www.500bygucci.com, starting from 17,000 euros or about $24,000. But if that’s a big price tag for a limited edition Fiat, you can buy one of the pieces from the exclusive 500 by Gucci collection: travel accessories, small leather goods, tracksuits, bombers, driving gloves, glasses and a watch for both men and women, available from April in select Gucci stores and online at www.gucci.com. I can’t wait to see the 500 in person whenever it hits the North American market, I think it would be a cool car to test out!
Here’s a little more information about the 500:
The 500 by Gucci, available in black and white, attracts attention with the eye-catching and exclusive glossy pearl paint of the two colours, which complement one another perfectly: black with detailing in shiny chrome in sharp contrast with the white interior, for a contemporary and racy look; white with satin chrome detailing and ivory and black interior, for a softer, sophisticated look. The exterior is further personalised by the retro design of the rims for 195/45 R16 tyres, an absolute novelty for this car category; the hubcaps feature the double “G” in the body colour, while the Gucci signature in italics appears on the tailgate as well as the door post.
The silhouette is accentuated by the signature Gucci green-red-green stripe, which runs along the entire perimeter and also appears on the seats, gearbox, key cover, mats and, with an innovative finish, seat belts. Naturally, everything on board is about style, combined with great functionality, down to every last detail: chic embroidery, exclusive materials, glossy and satin chrome elements, the velvet-effect finish on the radio panel, the two-tone seats in Frau leather with Guccissima print.
