Diwan Restaurant

After spending the morning and getting some culture in at Aga Khan Museum as part of my mom’s birthday celebrations, we took a break for lunch on the patio of Diwan restaurant. Diwan is part of Aga Khan Museum and Chef Mark McEwan is bringing Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian cuisine all under the same roof. There are plenty of choices and all sounded super delicious. We sat on the patio under the giant umbrellas and enjoyed the nice weather for the day. The indoors sitting area looked very pretty and it was buzzing with all the museum patrons chatting away. I think most museum visitors do the same thing as we did. Walk the museum and hit Diwan for lunch! We got a few things and shared everything. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the lamb samosas. We were super hungry and they got devoured as soon as they hit the table. Same for the name of the dishes….sigh… hunger affects my memory… The fries were delicious! I would have loved …

Aga Khan Museum

After 4 years of talking, somewhat planning, driving by it, my mom and I finally went to Aga Khan Museum as part of her birthday weekend activities. This 4-year-old museum is a modern marvel to be experienced; with beautiful architecture and outdoor grounds, filled with the hope of opening a window in to the unfamiliar world of Muslim civilizations.   As an Iranian, it’s always fantastic to walk thru a museum and read the description of an exhibit only to find out that the item was made in Iran and has inspired generations of people across not only the Muslim world (Which was huge!) but all across the world for centuries. If you don’t believe me check out some of the ancient books on display by Avicenna. His “The Book of Healing” was used in universities to train doctor’s for centuries. We’re talking about 6 or 7 centuries! Check out this map that shows how far spread the Muslim world was to both east and west throughout the centuries. I digress, the Museum has a great in-house …

I’m Obsessed with Wrapped clothing!!

My obsession with wrap tops and dresses is not a new thing but it went on over drive after picking up couple of them for my recent trip to Mexico and now all I see is wrap things. Real wrap, faux wrap, dresses or tops. I don’t discriminate. This little fuzzy pictured red number is from me quickly taking a selfie before I pack for my trip.
