Among the four old bridges that span the river, the Ponte Vecchio, that bridge which is covered with the shops of jewellers and goldsmiths, is a most enchanting feature in the scene. The space of one house, in the center, being left open, the view beyond, is shown as in a frame; and that precious glimpse of sky, and water, and rich buildings, shining so quietly among the huddled roofs and gables on the bridge, is exquisite. – Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens says it all in that quote. Florence is something else but Ponte Vecchio and the feel of it is just out if this world. People forget all those shops are on top of a bridge and held up by a pretty old structure.
I managed to take some scenic & family shots in the exact spot he mentioned. He is right on the money with how it frames the view.
I’ve been to Florence many times before but I had neglected this side of the city for the most part. Yes, shameful but I finally got there. I’ll do another post soon to share info about our amazing hotel and some other spots we found on a later post.
For now enjoy this quick video of our trip and stay tuned for more posts coming soon!
