Purity Made Simple – Philosophy

A  while back, I did a review on Philosophy’s moisturizer, Hope in a Jar, and promised that I would do a follow-up on Hope in a Jar and a review of the cleanser, Purity Made Simple, since I bought them together. (Click here for the review on Purity Made Simple).

This foaming cleanser is meant to be used for all skin types but when I was at Sephora they recommended it to me because I have oily skin. I have really oily skin but this was way too drying, even for me – it left dry patches on my chin and around my nose. If you have dry or combination skin, STAY AWAY from this cleanser. I have stopped using it and may try it again during the summer.

Purity Made Simple “deeply cleanses, tones, and removes make-up” according to the label on the back but I still felt the need to use toner afterwards. However, it did do a pretty good job of removing my make-up.

The things I liked most about this cleanser are the “foaminess”, the clean scent and the packaging. I probably would not buy it again because it made my skin too dry but I’ll give it another go when my skin gets icky during the hot and humid Toronto summer.

Packaging: 8/10

Texture: 7/10

Scent: 7/10

Cleansing/Toning/Removing Make-up Effect: 5/10

Total: 6.75/10

As for the Hope in a Jar moisturizer… It really hasn’t made a big difference to my skin. Sigh. Really, Philosophy has been very disappointing for me. 😦
