I’ve reached an age where I’ve realized that New Year’s Resolutions never really work. In principle, having New Year’s Resolutions is not a bad thing, but I know many people build a list that will never be achieved year after year. So here is a suggestion for every one of you , who have the same seemingly impossible to achieve resolutions that crop up every year… Set goals for yourself every day, every week or every month!
For example, telling yourself, I will lose 15 pounds this year, is not the best way of setting a goal. How about instead tell yourself, I will lose 2 pounds this month, and once you achieve that goal, you can do the same thing the next month and so on. So if you stay on path – voila! Hopefully those pesky extra pounds will be gone by the end of the year.
As for me, I have those extra few pounds I want to lose as well but I’m trying to take it day by day. Also, not only do I want to lose weight, I want to be fit and healthy by continuing my gym routine and being aware of what I’m eating.
I also want to challenge myself by going out and doing new things. I want to do that by trying one thing at a time and incorporate it into my life. Once I’ve mastered that, I will go out and challenge myself by trying something else that is new.
I’ve always wanted to take up a new sport and I found a fun looking indoor beach volleyball facility. It offers drop-in and coaching clinics. I plan to attend one this week or next week.
I will tell you all about it!
