On Thursday night, Solmaz and I attended the official launch party of the White Space at The Bay Yorkdale which was co-hosted by the Fashion Magazine. The launch party featured some great music, a cute candy bar and some great Fall looks that were presented by Sarah Casselman, the Fashion Market Editor of Fashion Magazine. Designer Adam Lippes of ADAM was to make a special appearance but due to an injury had to return to New York for treatment. (I hope he gets better very soon.)

The Bay Yorkdale location has recently undergone major renovations to create a space more appropriate for their new contemporary designer labels. Gone are the disorganized and messy racks of clothes in a cramped space; instead, The Bay has created an impressive room that is white (obviously), open and spacious. Not only does the white theme give a great modern aesthetic to the space, it also allows products and displays to stand out in stark contrast. Each rack was sparse but had items arranged together in a way that made it easy for customers to shop and create outfits.

Of course, the most amazing part of the night was perusing the great clothes and accessories that were on display. The variety of collections and products were impressive. The White Space contains a lot of labels that are in fact, quite hard to find in Canada. As a fashion consumer and fashion lover in Toronto, it is easy to be disappointed in the lack of selection, especially when everything seems so readily available online for our Southern neighbours.

My favorite lines at the White Space so far are Sandro, ADAM, Rachel Roy and White Space’s own in-house line. I found some great little pieces that I feel in love with. All in all, I love that The Bay has re-vamped its image and that it has given us a great Canadian fashion destination. You know where to find Solmaz and I on the weekends…
