The Stockyards Smokehouse & Larder

This Long weekend I went to try one of St Claire west`s hidden gems, The Stockyards Smokehouse & larder. The small space provides a nice casual intimate dining experience.I really enjoyed being able to see how the chef was making my food and interacting with the other 2 people who were working with him. It was actually nice to see a fully functioning restaurant being run by 3 people during lunch time rush hour. The menu is some what short but every single item on it is finger licking good, from the burgers to sandwiches and BBQ ribs. Another yummy thing on the menu is their coleslaw with a nice rich tasting although light peppery sauce. Another thing about this local eatery is how its budget friendly and at the same time it taste so rich and expensive, if that makes any sense. Some of my local friends are very excited about the news about their brunch time hours and menu and I can`t wait to go back to try their brunch food and their …

La Bruschetta

I recently went a little family owned Italian restaurant on St Clair west, just west of Dufferin street, I totally fell in love with the charm and amazing staff and of course the food. I went to taste their set menu for the winterlicious and thought it was worth the $15 spent. One of the perks for this place is their complimentary plate of bruschetta and hot peppers in olive oil, AMAZING!!!! The staff are very nice and the place have been around for almost 20 years and they are very well-informed about their food and how it’s made, I hate it when you ask the waiter about how something is cooked and all you hear is “uhhhh, uhhhh, I’m not sure…”. Since they are a family run business make sure you check out their work hours before you head over for your Italian feast and make sure you make reservation, since the restaurant is not that big and it gets very busy. Keep an eye on their wall of fame and old plates with …

Winterlicious-Toronto

I love food almost as much as I love clothes. Trust me, food will be an oft-mentioned subject on our blog. (Solmaz started us off with a sushi entry…yum…) Twice a year, Toronto is host to “Summerlicious” and “Winterlicious” when some of the city’s best restaurants will offer prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner. I usually make a point of going out to eat during these events as it is a fun way to try new restaurants without breaking the bank. If I like the restaurant enough, I will go back – as easy as that. This year I want to try a few restaurants since I love food and it would make great fun subjects for our blog. (Not so subtle hint there, Solmaz… I don’t care about your hibernation… I want food damn it… ) Any suggestions for restaurants? I have been to many of the places on the list already but I think they’ve added several new places this year. Hopefully, the restaurants are not too fully booked yet. I’ll let you …
