One of a Kind Show 2012 tile

Now that I’m all inspired for the gift giving season ahead, I’m off to shop at the One of a Kind Christmas 2012 Show . This year my shopping buddy and I decide to try something new, visit our favorite booths first and pickup our must haves and then spend a fun, relax afternoon to just wander around the show and discover new artists and items. Over the years we both have learned that if you don’t buy it when you see it, you wont find it again! I have been a victim of “we sold out!” way too often at the OOAK…So here we go….

One of a Kind Show Christmas 2012

For the last couple of years I have been lucky enough to slice out some time to attend the One of a Kind Christmas shows. It is an amazing feeling to celebrate Canadian artists and brands from all over Canada, bringing together under one roof for almost 2 weeks of shopping frenzy. Customers are always excited to see new products from new and returning artists or find more of their favorite goods from previous years. It’s truly a fun show to attend and I promise that you would not leave empty-handed. Just to get everyone excited for the Christmas shopping season…some inspiration right off the bat with the beautiful Christmas displays and massive One of a Kind tree!

LGFW SS2012 Chloe Comme Parris, a set on Flickr.

Chloe comme Parris is a contemporary fashion and accessories brand based out of Toronto. The brand was conceived in 2009 from a passion for products that are unique, luxurious, and engaging. Sisters Chloe and Parris Gordon explore historical and old worldly ideas of adornment, while always being conscious of translating those ideas into a modern, wearable context. A Chloe comme Parris piece embodies an unusual unity between masculine and feminine, soft and hard, with the ability to always remain effortless and chic. The brand produces seasonal ready-to-wear collections that aim to challenge the status quo, offering a unique and fresh perspective on contemporary fashion.

Thanks to Susan Tyndall of O Live PR, I was invited for the media breakfast at this year’s One Of A Kind Show. The breakfast for this event was prepared by students at George Brown College Chef School. On the menu, Scottish eggs, cornflake crusted french toast and fresh fruit salads to just name a few. I loved the breakfast because it was freshly made and presented in a beautiful way and according to other media members “it’s the best media breakfast event”. I agree with them!

If you guys have never been to the One Of A Kind Show, I absolutely recommend it. There are booths after booths of talented Canadian artists displaying and selling their beautiful handmade products. It’s the best place to go to find those little special pieces for you or your loved ones. I even loved walking around at the show because of all the beautiful displays I found it a very happy and visually stimulating environment.

Tomorrow I’m going back to the show to revisit my favorite booths. Can’t wait to show you guys my new finds!

Today Canadian fashion designer Sunny Fong took us on a journey to Africa and Spain with his SS2011 collection for VAWK; inspired by his virtual tour of these amazing countries. The Toro Safari collection was a beautiful marriage between soft flowy feminine fabrics and buttery leather in shades of gold, cream and sand, mixed with dark animal prints and an amazing single pop of fuschia and purple for the strapless knotted fringe dress. The runway was set in VAWK’s favorite Toronto location at AGO’s Walker court.

I really enjoyed the show and hopefully I get to see this collection at The Room and other retailers. Congratulations to Sunny and Ben!
